Well, it’s almost been another year here at Liberty Legal Solutions, LLC. Yesterday was Christmas, and next week is New Year’s. Because I blog on Fridays, we’re actually in between again, so I want to wish all of you a belated Merry Christmas, and a very happy and prosperous new year. As this is the last Freedom Friday blog and email newsletter for 2025, I want to say how excited I am for the changes coming in 2026. I also want to share with you some keys for success in your small business as enter into 2026. Here are three (3) keys to success for your small business in the new year:
1. Set Your Goals for 2026
The first key to success for your small business in 2026 is to set your goals for the new year, and that includes preparing your budget and making revenue projections. For example, if you’re changing vendors, this is the time to start exploring that issue, if you haven’t done so already. This past year we at Liberty Legal Solutions, LLC, implemented a new vendor for billing and case management, and we have a big surprise for a new vendor in 2026. We had planned to launch that this past year, and it didn’t happen, but it is going to happen, for sure, in 2026.
2. Get Ready for Taxes
The second key to success for your small business in 2026 is to get ready for taxes. Every small business owner needs to file taxes in the new year, so now is the time to review your books, gather your financial documents, and coordinate with your CPA or tax professional for filing taxes next year.
3. Amend Your Operating Agreement or Bylaws
The third key to success for your small business in 2026 is to amend your operating agreement or bylaws, especially if you had or expect to have any major changes in your business. This is the time of year where I get inquiries about a wife wanting to join her husband’s LLC (or one of the spouses being removed from it), and similar inquiries about individuals either joining or leaving respective LLCs. You also should check your status with the Oklahoma Secretary of State. Every year many small businesses go inactive because they do not renew their annual certificate, which is required to remain in good standing. If you haven’t done so already, simply pay the minimal fee and get reinstated, if necessary. Also, if you’ve changed the name of your small business, your small business has moved, or there’s been another significant change, you may need to update these changes by amending the appropriate documents, and sometimes may need to notify the Oklahoma Secretary of State.
On behalf of Liberty Legal Solutions, LLC, have a happy and prosperous new year!
